eBay and Paypal supporting Hurricane Sandy victims

After Hurricane Sandy brought untold damage to the eastern coast of the United States, killing over 50 people in the US alone in the last week and over 130 people in total. To try and help these people who have had their lives turned upside down by the disaster, eBay Giving Works and Paypal have teamed up to try and provide some relief to the victims. 

eBay have launched their own Hurricane Sandy site and Paypal have started a disaster relief campaign, both allowing users to pledge a donation to go towards the relief efforts. Like many donation efforts that eBay have run in the past, online sellers can pledge a percentage of a sold item anywhere from 10% to 100%. 

Currently over 1,900 sellers have pledged a donation to the relief effort through the sale of over 18,000 items. 

Paypal's Hurricane Sandy relief site allows users to pledge donations to one of four different organisations; American Red Cross, The Humane Society, Team Rubicon and The Salvation Army. Paypal are also waiving any fees they usually charge on a donation pledged by any user.
